Geoff Lee is the author of a series of novels all inspired by the old saying about being at work; “They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller.” He was born in St Helens in September 1939 and spent most of his working life as an electrical draughtsman, firstly in South Lancashire, then in London during the sixties and from the mid seventies until undergoing quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2002, in East and finally West Yorkshire. The themes that run through his material are the humour that was once found at work in the the engineering industry (particularly of the Lancashire/Yorkshire industrial variety) northern family life, tales from the past and rugby league. He draws most of his material from life as he has seen and experienced it and bases many of his fictional characters on people that he has known and worked with.

One Winter set in the terrible winter of 1962. One Spring set between 1972 and 1976 and both written against a background of romance, rock ‘n’ roll and rugby league. One Summer set between 1979 and 1984 against a background of romance, redundancy and rugby league. One Autumn set during 1992 and 1993 against a background of work, family life and rugby league.

 

Has spoken at branch libraries in St Helens on a number of occasions. Has also been interviewed on Radio Leeds, Greater Manchester Radio and Radio Merseyside.
