Biography
Formerly Principal Inspector of Schools for the City Of Manchester, Head of the Manchester School Improvement Service, and Lead Network Facilitator of the National College of School Leadership, I am currently a Fellow and judge of the Teaching Awards. For four years I was also a programme consultant and panellist on the popular live GranadaTelevision programme Which Way, presented by the iconic, and much missed, Tony Wilson. In the past three years I have written six crime thriller novels, all of them based inand around the City of Manchester. My first novel The Cleansing was short listed for the Long Barn Books Debut Novel competition, which led to a London Agency offering to take me on. My fourth – A Trace of Blood – reached the semi-final of the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. In additon to writing novels I have also started my own publishing house: Caton Books.

Workshop & Reading Experience
As an Education Inspector/Adviser, and NCSL Facilitator I have had extensive experience of public speaking and leading and facilitating workshops and seminars, I was a teacher of English and History for 22 years in High Schools and a Sixth Form College, and I have been involved in amateur dramatics as an actor and producer for over 45 years. I have given three readings, two book signings and two 1 hour radio interviews this year – including the Becky Want Mr Manchester Show on Radio Manchester, and Salford City Radio. My most recent reading was at the Chorlton Book Festival. I have five readings booked in between now and March 2010.
