IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
For the benefit of the public health of our community in the outbreak of Covid-19, all New Words events have been postponed. A new date for this event will be confirmed soon.
In the meantime you can enjoy an interview with Marion on BBC Radio Four Womens Hour. Jane Garvey described Marion as “one of the most positive people I’ve ever met.” It’s a really great interview and well worth a listen on catch-up.
Morecambe, meet Marion!
Marion Dunn’s The Boxing Diaries: How I Got Hooked is a memoir and a blow by blow account of falling in love with boxing. Meet the author, for a fascinating talk at Morecambe Library on Thursday 30 April at 7pm.
Marion will talk about her compelling, often funny, inspirational memoir, charting one woman’s incredible determination to achieve fitness goals that smash all expectations of her age and gender. Aged fifty Marion Dunn joined a boxing gym and soon became addicted; learning how to punch with the best of them. She’ll explain why boxing is a wonderful activity, how she adapted to the high-intensity fitness training and why boxing isn’t as aggressive and unwelcoming as it may seem.
The Boxing Diaries is published by North West independent publishing house Saraband and is part of New Words, made possible with public funding from the Arts Council. There will be an opportunity to buy a signed copy of Marion’s book at this event.
